On August 11, 2018, ICE and friends supported the benefit Luau held at the Newport Aquatic Center for the Makapo Aquatics Project. The Makapo Aquatics Project was founded in 2007 to meet the recreational needs of the blind community in Orange County and beyond.  Their mission is to provide unique opportunities to those who would otherwise be excluded from team sports.  Their programs are designed to be inclusive experiences for all and involve the Polynesian sport of outrigger paddling, which is the perfect sport for those with little or no vision since there are no special adaptations to the equipment.  The event was coordinated by the following groups:  Newport Aquatic Center (NAC), The Andrei Foundation, and The Newport Beach Hawaiian Lions Club.  Many thanks to Lion Sally Nockold for inviting ICE to this event.
